Darryl “DMC” McDaniels Wins an EMMY for his VH1 Adoption Documentary "DMC: MY Adoption Journey."

Hip Hop legend, Darryl "DMC" McDaniels, one third of the legendary group, Run-DMC, took home an Emmy award for his documentary about his search and reunion. At the age of 35, he made the startling discovery that he was adopted. His search for answers about himself and about his birth family is the subject of "My Adoption Journey," that first aired on VH-1. The "Rock Doc" won in the News and Documentary category for Outstanding Arts and Culture Programming.
Upon winning, DMC said, "For my fellow adoptees, I am going to remove the guilt and the shame from the triad, birth-mom, adoptee and adopted parents, and thus will remove the pain.
