Search Policy Statement

The American Adoption Congress is firmly committed to the right of all individuals to search for relatives from whom they have been separated by adoption. We know that adoption forever links the birth family and the adoptive family through the child who is adopted. We acknowledge and affirm our heritage, built upon the efforts of individuals and search groups. The benefits and rewards of search and reunion have been documented. The American Adoption Congress believes that search is an act of personal and political courage.
