Access to Records Statement

The American Adoption Congress will endorse and support all legislation which releases original birth records to the adult adoptee without restriction.

The AAC will consider all other adoption reform legislation on a case-by-case basis and may endorse legislation if, in the judgment of the Legislative Committee and the Board, the legislation represents realistic progress for a particular state.

The AAC, through its Legislative Committee, will make available to its state representatives and members material to be used in educating legislators, agency personnel, and the general public about the rights of adoptees.
